Keepin’ Cozy

Cozy fall items

Do you feel it? The air is crisper, there’s leaves everywhere and everything is pumpkin flavored. Fall is officially upon us, finally. I’ve been waiting for this moment for what feels like forever. Don’t get me wrong I love a little warmth, but I don’t like being sweaty all the time. Hooray for being able to get from point A to point B without being sweaty! Remember my sweaty rant?

I’m a sucker for pretty leaves, cold breeze and cozy days at home. I LIVE for cozy days at home, they’re good for the soul and your sanity.

Here’s how I’m keepin’ cozy this fall.

Throw| Mug| Scarf|

Throw| I’m a huge fan of snuggling up on the couch with the softest throw in the world. Throws are my weakness.

Blanket Scarf| I am in love with blanket scarfs. It makes it acceptable for me to walk out of my house wearing a huge blanket while still looking cute #fashion

Mug| For the ridiculous amount of hot beverages I consume. I love drinking out of pretty things.

Breakfast in Bed| One of my favorite things to do. I whip up a super easy brekkie, put it on a cute tray and enjoy it from the comfort of my bed with Netflix, obviously.

Journaling| Ahhh journaling, it does wonders for my busy brain. It’s nice to de-stress on paper.

College Fashion Week

Good morning!

Last week was a rough week. I had too many midterms and papers due, it was pretty annoying. Luckily my last midterm is today and I am ecstatic! I am rewarding myself with wine and the latest episode of Quantico (haven’t watched it? it’s amazing).

I took a break from studying this weekend to attend College Fashion Week. Best. Break. Ever. It was held at the W hotel in D.C in the Great Ballroom. The W hotel is the most Instagram ready hotel I’ve ever seen. Upon arrival, they had a photo booth so I immediately stopped and posed for a pic. I really don’t think it’s humanly possible to walk by a photo booth and not take a picture. My friends and I were gifted swag bags filled with awesome goodies, which I proceeded to eat when I got home.

The show was great. The clothing was beautiful. It definitely had me considering throwing out my entire closet and buying everything on the runway. I’m still thinking about it.

What I loved about the show is that they used real woman of all shapes and sizes. They were #fierce and killed it on the runway.

Detox Me

Guys, I’m obsessed with food. Along with my food obsession comes bloating. How do I combat it? With this magical drank. It does wonders for my digestive system and it’s so easy to make. If I can make it groggily first thing in the morning anyone and I mean ANYONE can make this. Now I’m not going to lie, this drink is not the easiest to gulp down. It’s a little sour but I’m so use to it now that I like drinking it. But let me tell you, when I first took a sip of this my reaction was “I’ll take a hard pass on this” but I took a few more sips and it got better and I felt amazing! I got the recipe from Lauryn Evarts Book The Skinny Confidential  (One of my health holy grail books) I substituted a few things in this recipe to better suite me and my taste buds 😉 Feel free to do the same to mine! What’s in it? Water//2tbs of apple cider vinegar//2tbs of lemon juice//Stevia or honey to add some sweet flavor.

Being Content With Yourself

Hey you. Yes, you! The beautiful human reading this blog post, I want you to know that you are good enough. Sometimes those four words are just what we need to hear/read. Have you ever wondered how we get to the point where we feel inadequate? COMPARISON.

Comparison is the culprit of all of those icky feelings. Think about it, we compare ourselves to others all the time! Here are a few examples;

  • Bodies- Dying for a body like Queen Bey? You workout really hard and when you don’t look like her you’re upset
  • Relationships- Another one of your friends has just gotten engaged and you’re still single as a Pringle
  • Jobs- Your friend has your dream job and it wasn’t even her major
  • Finances- You have student loans for the rest of your life but someone else has NONE (is that even possible?)
  • School- You have to study for hours to understand Bio-Chem but someone else can skim through and understand everything.

Does any of this sound familiar? It should because we do it all the time! People seem to believe that this issue is reserved for adolescents but it’s actually affects everyone. We’re human obviously, and it happens, but what do we accomplish when we compare ourselves to one another? You just end up super annoyed and down in the dumps for nothing. It took me a while to be content with myself and where I am in life. I am who I am for a reason. I’m where I am for a reason, you know? Those characteristics about you are what make you special. If you got everything you wanted from the people you compared yourself to, there would be nothing special about you. You’d literally be a carbon copy of that person. No thanks, I’ll pass on that. The moment you stop comparing yourself you won’t feel the need for others to accept you. And that my friends, is a liberating feeling.

A few months ago I heard Derek Coleman from the Seattle Seahawks speak he said “Imma do me, and you can do you!” and that statement could not be anymore perfect for this topic. Stop the comparisons and “DO YOU” and let everyone else “DO THEM” because at the end of the day comparisons won’t do anything for you. Be content with yourself (as in mentally and emotionally satisfied with where things are), accept yourself and stop the comparisons because you are GOOD ENOUGH.
