Disclaimer. I have been to Miami MANY times since I wrote this. Let me know if you want a Miami travel guide!
The year was 2019… and to kick off the new year I ran away to Miami, to celebrate my sweet friend Kathryn. We did South Beach in style AND most importantly on a budget. Today I’m sharing that trip, even though it’s over a year later.
FRIDAY
7 AM – Flight from DCA to MIA
9 AM – Land in MIAMI
10 AM – FOOD – We were starving and needed food ASAP. Our AirBnB wasn’t ready yet, so we found the closest diner with great Yelp reviews and enjoyed a nice breakfast. No idea what it was called.
11 AM – FRIEND TIME– Our friends arrived on Thursday evening. We paid them a visit and hung out for a little bit. They had the cutest little house in Wynwood. Make sure to visit the Wynwood Murals if you’re ever in the area. It’s so worth it.
1 PM – FOOD & BEACH – Our AirBnB was finally ready! We dropped off our bags, changed into our swimsuits. But first, food. You guessed it… We Yelp’ed the closet restaurant in walking distance that had great reviews. Piola was the winner! It also helped that it was across the street from our AirBnB. No brainer there. The pizza was great and the drinks were even better. Solid B+
2 PM – 5 PM – BEACH – After eating until we had food babies, we headed to the beach. We have vitamin d deficiencies, as most east coasters do, so naturally, we sunbathed to assist with that. When we were nice and crispy, we headed back to the house to nap as one does after spending a few hours in the sun.
5 PM – 8 PM – NAP & GETTING READY – We needed a nap in the worst way since we had taken an early flight out. We napped and chilled out for an hour or so and got ready to head out for the night.
8 PM – 9:30 PM – PREGAME – Friends come over we pregame
9:30 PM to ???? – SOUTH BEACH NIGHTLIFE – We headed over to a few popular places on south beach, do lots of dancing. Go to sleep at an ungodly time.
Saturday
11 AM – LUNCH – We had lunch at the cutest little Cuban restaurant, Puerto Sagua. They’ve been around since 1962 cooking up amazing dishes. Best part? It across the street from our Airbnb. It was delicious. What really topped it off was the Cuban coffee. I still have dreams about it, which is ironic because I was so wired after drinking it. That’s how good this coffee was.
12:30 – 5 PM – EXPLORING – We went on an adventure throughout Miami. We went to so many little shops and the nicest promenade which you’ve seen a lot of on my Instagram. My favorite of the day was Española Way It’s a historic pedestrian-only street with adorable shops and restaurants.
5 PM – DINNER – We ended the day with a bang. We had dinner at Bolivar Restaurant Bar, a Columbian restaurant.
8 PM – 1 AM – EL PATIO – El Patio is a really cool bar in Wynwood. The inside looks like a rainforest. It’s awesome! Although drinks are on the pricer side, you’re not there for that. You’re there for the ambiance!
Sunday
1 AM – 1 PM – RECOVER – We had a long night so we rested up!
1 PM – 4 PM – Wynwood Walls & Shopping – We spent at least 2 hours exploring the Wynwood Murals, followed by shopping at the Wynwood Marketplace. I purchased the cutest moon necklace handmade by a father and daughter team (Daddy Daughter Jewelry). I almost purchased 3 different rings but I practiced self-restraint.
Monday
6 AM – 11 AM – Beach Morning – We woke up very early to watch the sunrise at the beach grabbed a quick bite and came back to the beach until we had to check out. I quickly visited my uncle in North Miami Beach and then we headed to the airport!
All in all, Miami was great. Can’t wait to go back. Have you been to Miami? Let me know your favorite places!
Truthfully Yours, Dahlia
